I wrote a post awhile ago about the ever-popular colored denim trend seen here, which is still a pretty prominent trend for spring and fall. As the weather begins to warm up (here in FL), neon denim cut-offs are making their arrival into retail stores everywhere. With all this color on the runway for spring, I think one of the best ways to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe is with some neon denim cut-offs. J Brand definitely has some of the best neon cut-offs on the market. They are actually on sale at ShopBop here! Still a little pricey, but I'm sure Forever 21 or H&M will have their own version for about half the price. You can also do a little DIY project and cut a pair of your old jeans and dye them with garment dye. This is a great option because then, you can tailor the length and color to your liking! When styling this look, keep it really casual. I love colored denim with slouchy tees, it just looks really cool and effortless.

Sneakin' Up
I am really lusting over sneakers at the moment. I have never been one to gravitate towards fashionable tennis shoes, considering the only time I wear them is when I'm working out. However, I have noticed them on the runways for fall 2012 and on the likes of various models in the fashion industry. Models are a huge fan of this trend and that doesn't surprise me, since they basically live in heels. Try this look paired with skinny jeans or some leather pants. Wear your favorite rock band tee and add a fur vest to complete your look. Be mindful of what kind of sneaker you choose, because this trend can easily turn ugly. I really love a fashionable high-top. This is definitely a trend you will have fun with, just don't go all Jenny from the block. Keep your look simple and understated. Wearing sneakers is all about cool, effortless style. Not to mention, they are super comfortable!

True Blue Hue
Electric blue is all over the fall 2012 runways. I love this statement color for fall, especially for beauty. It is such a strong color and I think it pairs really well with black, shown below on models from Erdem and Zac Posen. You will certainly be seeing a lot of this combination for fall. Try this color paired with neutrals or other statement colors such as chartreuse or turquoise. Also, play around with this color in your makeup routine. Add some navy shadow to your eyelids or paint your nails in a cobalt hue. It is definitely one of those colors that is universally flattering on all skin tones.

Everything Salad
I made some candied pecans while I was home for the weekend. They are equally as fun to snack on by themselves, but I wanted to mix them into a salad. I had an amazing salad at one of my favorite restaurants in Tallahassee and I thought it would be fun to re-create my own version. I call this my "everything salad" because you can basically throw in just about any nuts or fruit you like. Being in college, eating right can be a challenge. I love to cook easy, but healthy foods while I'm away at school and this salad is definitely one of my favorite go-to meals. Today I had this salad on the side, but you can certainly add some grilled chicken and have it for dinner.
Below is the recipe for the candied pecans. My salad ingredients are strawberries, granny smith apples, and butter lettuce. As for dressing, I really like Ken's Fat Free Raspberry Pecan dressing. It pairs really well with the sweet fruit and spicy pecans!
1 large egg white
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups pecan halves (8 to 9 ounces)
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Brush large baking sheet with butter.
Whisk egg white in bowl until foamy. Add sugar, spices, and salt. Whisk until mixture is thickened. Add pecans and stir until coated. Using a fork, transfer the pecans to your baking sheet and spread them apart. Bake the nuts until golden brown for about 25-30 minutes. Check the pecans regularly just to avoid them from becoming burnt. Once the pecans are baked to your liking, leave them on the baking sheet to cool.

Behind The Seams
Just some behind the scenes photos from CLUTCH Magazine. I am fortunate enough to be Fashion Director for CLUTCH Magazine at FSU and it is my job to come up with the season's hottest trends to feature in the magazine. I also have to choose where these trends will be shot. One of our trends was athletic inspired outerwear and I thought it would be a great idea to shoot at Doak Campbell Stadium. (Of course, we had to represent our Seminoles!) The photo shoot turned out amazing and I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. The magazine will be available at the end of March, so I will be sure to post the online version for all of you to read!

Never Met A Neon That I Didn't Like
Spring is here and I thought I would feature one of my favorite trends right now. Neon colors have been on my radar for awhile and I seem to be gravitating toward everything in bright hues. Even though the weather is a bit dreary, I keep my spring inspiration alive while flipping through spring 2012 lookbooks full warmth and color.

Hats Off
It is officially Fashion Week! Of course, I am glued to my computer watching as many shows as I can streaming live as if I were really there. I have noticed so many amazing trends, particularly with accessories. One of my favorites thus far has to be athletic inspired hats. The most prominent hat trend I've noticed was an equestrian theme. Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger, Tracy Reese, and Louis Vuitton have all featured these quirky toppers in their Fall 2012 runway shows. I'm not sure how practical this look is to wear everyday, but I believe we will be seeing a lot of these trendy hats used in editorial photo shoots. As Fashion Week plugs on, I'm sure this trend will continue to resurface as many more runway shows begin to emerge throughout the week.
