Fashion Women Steal From Men

Menswear as womenswear has to be my favorite trend of all time. Incorporating some sort of menswear inspired item of clothing into your wardrobe will guarantee you a lifetime of versatile outfits. There are so many ways you can create fashionable looks with a basic blazer, white button down, tailored trousers etc. It wasn't until the 1920's when designer Coco Chanel featured models in a runway show wearing her trademark tweed suit separates. She examined how men's clothing were constructed and borrowed ideas from their clothes, because that was what she wore at the time. She revolutionized the way women dressed from there on out. YSL later followed in her footsteps and created a suit in the 60's called Le Smoking tuxedo suit. This look gave women the confidence to wear what men with power wore. In today's fashion, women are wearing suits now more than ever. Not only are women wearing suits, but some of the most fashionable ideas right now can come straight from your man's closet. Here are some examples of fashion women steal from men and how you can implement them into your wardrobe.

Tailored Suits- No brainer. This look is chic and timeless. Find a great tailor and fit your suit accordingly so it creates a more feminine shape. I personally think a wide-leg pant creates a more flattering appearance. Look for suit colors such as ivory, camel, navy, grey, red and of course, classic black.

Blazer- The boyfriend blazer has been trending for a couple years now. This is just basically an over sized blazer that you can wear paired with a more casual ensemble. You can also try an over sized cardigan for a sporty look.

Sweater over a button down- This pairing is probably my favorite of all. It is super preppy, but always in style. You can wear this look so many different ways. Always accessorize accordingly, whether you are wearing a statement necklace or with black rimmed glasses such as these models seen below.

Loafers & Oxfords- These two fashion favorites are right on trend for both Spring and Fall. Wear loafers with a pair of your favorite ankle trousers or tone down a feminine floral print dress with some masculine oxfords.

Plaid- I happen to love plaid and I have been noticing a lot of it for Fall weather. This versatile pattern can take your look from grunge to rocker chic depending on how you wear it. A plaid button down is cool and easy-to-wear. I love a plaid button down with liquid leggings and ankle boots. It is feminine, but still keeps that boyish charm.
