Trend Alert: Capes

Capes are not just for superheros you know. This season, capes are worn by some of the most fashion forward women in the industry. You can find capes on the likes of Kourtney Kardashian, Katherine Jenkins, and Sienna Miller. A cape is a super versatile accessory, making it a true investment piece. Just throw it on over a turtleneck, your favorite pair of skinny jeans, and ballet flats for a more casual look or fight the chill and wear a glamorous cape over a cocktail dress, sheer tights, and platform heels for a night out. The main colors to look for right now are bright red, deep burgundy, brown, camel, and of course black. I really love prints too, like leopard, plaid, and herringbone. Just a tip, it's a good idea to find a cape that has some sort of belt. This way it will give your body shape, considering capes have a tendency to give women an unflattering figure. Along with chunky knit sweaters, this has to be one of my favorite wardrobe staples for fall.

Under The Sea

The Chanel Spring 2012 collection felt like an underwater paradise. The scenery was a clean and sleek seascape with massive coral, sea creatures, and glistening sand. Aside from the props, the fashion was on point. Karl Lagerfeld can do no wrong in my eyes. Color stood out the most for me. It was all about pastel hues, such as ivory, seafoam green, and soft pinks. Not only did color play a huge role in enhancing the underwater experience, but I thought it was very fitting for spring's color palette. The garments were constructed so meticulously with Chanel's iconic pearl strands and intricate details of iridescent scales and netting in the most unexpected places. Of course, it would not be a Chanel show without incorporating classic tweed separates into the mix. Overall, Karl's whimsical portrayal of an underwater world had me so intrigued, I cannot wait to see what he comes up with next.

The models looked like modern-day mermaids with slicked back hair adorned with pearls. Their makeup was simple and fresh with shimmering white eyeshadow and soft pink lips.

These functioning sea shell clutches fit seamlessly into the underwater theme. The sea urchin statement ring was just an extra special touch.
