The Little White Dress

White dresses are virtually a blank canvas. They are absolutely perfect to embrace your creative side and let your imagination run wild. You can seamlessly accessorize the little white dress any way you want. It's like your little black dress, but for summer and available in breathable fabrics such as cotton, linen or seersucker. I love white dresses with lots of turquoise jewelry, layers of gold jewelry, pop of color neons or neutrals. The best part is, you can take the LWD from daytime to nighttime with a few simple adjustments to your look.

During the day, play with fresh, vibrant colors like orange, turquoise or coral. Add interest to your outfit with turquoise jewelry, stacks of bangles or delicate gold pieces. Even a denim jacket layered over your white dress will keep you right on trend. For daytime, it is all about staying simple, but by adding bold colors to the mix, it will bring your little white dress to life.

For nighttime, add neutrals or rosy pinks to your look for a more feminine ensemble. Dress it up with chunky, gold statement pieces to liven up that white color pallet. Pop of color heels will take your boring white dress from drab to fab and create some balance to those feminine details. If you want to bring your look to the next level, try metallic shades such as bronze, copper, gunmetal or silver. They all pair nicely with your LWD for a night out on the town. With these easy tips, I hope you can't wait to mix and match with your little white dress this summer!

Summer Nail Colors

Don't forget your shades this summer, because this seasons hues are brighter than ever making the unexpected pop of color a must-have when it comes to your nail polish. In a previous post on my favorite beauty products, I wrote about how Essie's Geranium was my favorite red-orange color on the market. I purchased two new colors from the Essie Summer 2011 Collection that are sure to make a statement. Super Bossa Nova is a bright fuchsia color with subtle shimmer. It looks amazing, glittering in the sun. It is just a fun, happy shade and I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful it looked on. Super Bossa Nova is the ultimate summer nail color. My second Essie purchase was Meet Me at Sunset, which is also from the new Essie Summer 2011 Collection. It is probably my favorite color from the collection. It is a beautiful deep orange, with a hint of red. It looks so yummy and vibrant. The best part is, this shade looks flattering on all skin tones. I have very fair skin and I tried Chinchilly, which did absolutely nothing for me. Brighter shades are definitely the best match for my light skin. (Fun Tip) I really love orange and gold paired together. If you're feeling adventurous, try some gold glitter nail polish as your top coat over Meet Me at Sunset. After all, summer is your playground. Don't be afraid to attempt other trendy summer colors such as, neon brights, metallics, pastels, classic nudes, or you can always keep it safe and opt for traditional red. Like in fashion, nail colors are always up-to-date with the most current trends. So, be a little daring this summer with your nail polish shades and I guarantee you'll want to experiment all year round.

Return of the Denim Jacket

Ladies, the denim jacket is back. This classic staple is not only versatile, but a super simple way to combine comfort and fashion into your wardrobe. I am loving a jean jacket right now for spring, but I am super excited to wear it for fall. It is perfect to layer with a scarf and really easy to accessorize. Various A-list celebs cannot seem to leave the house without their denim jacket. The denim jacket is definitely the go-to cover up over playful summer dresses and comfy maxi dresses. This look is for the casual girl on the go. There are so many styles and cuts available to choose from. For example, distressed, stone wash, cropped, dyed and even styles that resemble a blazer like the ones seen below on Kate Bosworth and Kristin Cavallari. I would stay away from the double denim trend with this one. Instead, use the jacket over a floral mini dress, tribal maxi dress or a cream crochet dress. Overall, this lightweight jacket a great fashion investment for women everywhere. Now, I wish I kept mine!

Fall's New Shoe: Platform Loafers

I love the fact of menswear made feminine. With platform loafers, you can have the best of both worlds. A masculine shoe paired with a comfortable platform, will never go out of style. These preppy platforms are perfect to wear with cropped frayed denim seen below, bright tights or a simple pant suit. This versatile shoe will provide you with the support you need in a heel, while giving you a sophisticated look every time. Find loafers with their signature tassels and wear them with denim trousers, a chunky sweater and a floppy hat to re-create your favorite 70's inspired look. Or, try a more modern style like the Balenciaga platforms pictured below. Take a look at my previous post about oxfords and loafers. You will quickly realize that platform loafers are a must-have for the autumn season.

Trend Alert: Knot Tops

Summer weather is already warming up. To beat the inevitable heat, here is one of my favorite summertime trends for those of you who are not afraid to bare a little midriff. If you own a simple button down, you're in luck! Knotting your tops is one of this seasons favorable trends. I personally like it because this look is so easy to accomplish. Tie your blouse over a maxi dress, or be bold this summer and knot your top just enough to show some skin. It is supposed to be playful, yet casual. Choose any button down blouse you feel comfortable in. It could be a denim button down, crisp white, or gingham tunic. Pick a style that suits your preference best. Your knotted denim blouse would be perfect to wear over a leopard dress for casual fridays at work. Wear a white tie blouse with a maxi skirt, shown below on Minka Kelly. This outfit is fashionable, comfortable and absolutely perfect for those hot summer days. Lastly, wear a tied gingham blouse over a bathing suit top and high-waisted shorts for a poolside barbecue. If you're not comfortable wearing a knot top as is, you always have the option to wear it over a tank, dress or shirt. These are all equally fashionable paired with a pleated mini skirt, denim cut-offs or high-waisted pants. Knot tops are super simple and extremely versatile. Whatever style you choose, I guarantee you will love your new fun & flirty look.
