Simple Ways To Jazz Up Your Little Black Dress

Every girl has at least one little black dress stashed in their closet. The LBD is one of the most classic wardrobe staples for every woman and is definitely the go-to dress for any occasion. But, how can you turn a boring black dress from drab to fab?

Here are a few tips...

Jewelry
Big, chunky, necklaces. Bib necklaces, fringe necklaces, diamond necklaces, long necklaces, whatever style you choose, make sure it makes a statement! Not a necklace person? Try stacking cocktail rings to give your look a little edge.

Layers
A white or coral blazer will add color contrast, while still looking cool and casual. Also, try a slouchy sequin cardigan, just to add a bit of sparkle. (I love this look!)

Tights
This is probably one of the most surefire ways to sex up your little black dress. There are so many patterns to choose from, like animal prints, lace tights, velvet tights, or metallic colors. It's fun to play with different patterns. Plus, tights are cheap, so you can mix and match as many times as you want with your little black dress.

Platforms
If you really want to add some pizzazz to your dress, funky platforms are a must. The possibilities are endless with this one, feel free to get a little crazy with your shoes. Pairing a bright colored platform with your dress gives a hint of cool, sophisticated glamour, without being over-the-top. Any where you can add a punch of color, it turns a simple outfit into a noteworthy look.

Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week in Bryant Park is the only place that features the fashion industry's finest and all of the hottest designers are showing their Spring 2010 collections this month. Admission is by invitation only, and strictly to the most desirable celebrities, socialites, press, and fashionistas.

Thanks to Rachel Zoe, and various other celebrities, the "uniform" for New York Fashion week was head to toe black, with lots of texture. Rachel Zoe is the epitome of a fashion icon. Even saying that isn't doing her enough justice! I absolutely love Rachel, simply because I envy her and I want her job for a living. Her style is simple, effortless, and chic. She has taken the fashion industry by storm and has styled almost every young, A-list celebrity in Hollywood. Not to mention, she has an amazing clothing line featured on QVC, (I have seen the collection, and trust me, you will want it all!). Rachel has many more projects up her sleeve. Without a doubt, she is in my top 5 of best fashion icons.

I love love love fur! I have desperately been wanting a fur coat or vest, but I live in Florida, so how often will I use it? Probably never. But, I'll still get one anyway! You can find a faux fur coat almost anywhere, like local thrift stores or department stores.

A black sequin top is a must for Spring. However, don't overdo it with the sequins. I know it's hard, because every girl likes sparkles. But, sometimes, it can look a little cheap. Just do one item with sequin detail at a time.

I adore wide leg trousers! I own a pair of wide leg jeans, which I love, because they are so fun and sexy. Also, these black wide leg trousers are perfect for anyone who is a bit on the shorter side. Wearing these pants will instantly create the illusion of longer legs. Pair these pants with platform heels or wedges. I always see Rachel Zoe wearing wide leg pants. They are sophisticated, while still keeping you sexy and fashionable. Wear wide leg trousers to work with a stylish blazer during the day or to a fancy restaurant at night. They work perfectly for any occasion.
